India and Australia will first match horns in ODIs and T20Is and then both sides will turn their attention to the longest format in the game.

Kohli only plays one test against Australia, then he returns home after receiving paternity leave from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

On Tuesday, the Indian team had started preparations for the Test series when Kohli posted a video of the hitting with the red ball. The outfielders were in test match-like field positions and the Kohli-led squad seemed to use a test match-like stimulation to leave no stone unturned in preparing for Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins.

The Indian squad for all three formats had arrived in Australia last week and now every player has started undergoing net sessions to be fully prepared.

During the 2018/19 series, India managed to record their first Test Series victory on Australian soil. The Kohli-led team eventually won the series 2-1 and now they would try to keep the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

The first test between India and Australia starts on December 17 at the Adelaide Oval and this match will be a daytime match.

The series of four matches is part of the World Test Championship (WTC). India and Australia are in the top two of the WTC rankings.
