Dhiraj Malhotra, CEO of Delhi Capitals, praised head coach Ricky Ponting, who brings tremendous experience, saying he is the “ most motivating person ” one can be with. The former Australian skipper led his squad to two World Cup titles in 2003 and 2007. He was also part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a player before becoming a coach. Malhotra shared what Ponting brings to the Capitals’ young and dynamic squad, Malhotra said before each training session, the former Australian skipper delivers a short speech that acts as a moral booster for the squad.
“He’s been an inspiring player. He’s the most motivating person you can be with. See his enthusiasm at this age as a coach, player or commentator. We start the training every day with a short speech from him. From that speech,” I could see people getting goosebumps and getting inspired. He’s part of every training that takes place. To be trained by someone of his caliber just took the team to another level, “Malhotra told ANI.
Speaking of the threats as the tournament takes place in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, the CEO said players will focus on their game once they’re on the pitch.
“Players give everything. Once on the field, they forget what’s going on in the world. It’s about being in the moment and on the field. I’ve seen everyone do that. You’ll see. Cricket. back to the highest level, ”he said.
“If you forget the pandemic and the challenges it has been a very fruitful experience. Everyone at home feels that things are getting back to normal.
