Saudi Arabia on Tuesday suspended entry of people from 20 countries, with the exception of diplomats, Saudi citizens and medical professionals, in an effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The suspension, which begins Wednesday, includes travelers who traveled to the banned countries within 14 days of their trip, The News International reported.
“The source added that citizens, diplomats, naturopaths and their families who are from or have passed through any of the above countries in the 14 days prior to their return to the kingdom are in accordance with the precautions imposed by the kingdom the Ministry of Health will enter, “Al Arabiya quoted the Saudi press agency as saying.
The countries included in the suspension are the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey as well as the USA, Sweden, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, France, Switzerland, Argentina, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, South Africa and India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Japan.
So far, the kingdom has recorded over 368,639 COVID-19 cases and 6,383 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
