Shardul Thakur, the fast bowler of India, was greeted with a thunderous reception as he returned home from a thrilling Test series victory in Australia. Former Indian off-spinner Ramesh Powar took to Twitter on Friday to share a video featuring Shardul greeted by loud cheers from fans as his parents welcome him home. Shardul was one of the best players for India with both bat and ball when the visitors ended Australia’s 32-year unbeaten run at Gabba.

Shardul, who played his second Test, took seven wickets in the match and also played a crucial knockout of 67 in the first innings of the Gabba Test that helped India narrow the deficit to under 50 in the first innings.
Shardul teamed up with rookie Washington Sundar to set up 123 runs for the seventh wicket, breaking a 30-year Test record for India at Gabba, held by former captain Kapil Dev and Manoj Prabhakar.
Kapil Dev and Prabhakar had set a 58-run stand for the seventh wicket in Brisbane Gabba in 1991, but Sundar and Thakur’s exploits with the bat in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy broke the long-standing record.
Shardul was rewarded for his good performance in Australia when he was named in the 18-man Test squad for the upcoming home series against England.
The first test of the series of four games starts on February 5 in Chennai.
