Sourav Ganguly, chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, will have a stent procedure performed on Thursday, Woodlands hospital in Kolkata said Wednesday. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Aftab Khan in the presence of the renowned cardiologist Dr. Devi Shetty, while Dr. Saptarshi Basu and Dr. Saroj Mondal are present. Ganguly had undergone an angioplasty earlier in the month. Earlier on Wednesday, he had visited Apollo Gleneagles Hospital in Kolkata for a heart check. The hospital said all of his vital signs are stable.
“He had chest discomfort today and is being taken to Apollo today. Dr Saptarshi Basu and Dr Saroj Mondal are in attendance. Dr Aftab Khan will do the stenting tomorrow in the presence of Dr Devi Shetty,” said Woodlands Hospital.
“Sourav Ganguly, 48 years old, has come for a check-up of his heart condition. There has been no change in his parameters since his last hospitalization and his vital signs are stable,” the Apollo hospital had previously said.
The former Indian captain had spent five days in hospital before being released after doctors declared him clinically fit on Jan. 7.

“Mr. Ganguly is clinically fit. He slept and ate well. He wanted to stay in the hospital one more day. So he’s going home tomorrow. It’s his personal decision,” said Dr. Rupali Basu, MD and CEO of Had Woodlands Hospital said.
The doctor had also said that the former Indian skipper would be monitored daily at home after his discharge.
