Chennai Super Kings star Suresh Raina returned to India on August 29, where franchise CEO KS Viswanathan said the left-handed had left the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for “personal reasons.” Viswanathan had also said in a tweet on the team’s official Twitter handle that Raina would not be available for the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, a report claims that Raina was unhappy with the hotel room assigned to him and wanted an accommodation comparable to that of CSK Captain MS Dhoni.
Speak to OutlookCSK owner and former BCCI president N Srinivasan compared cricketers to “prima donna’s,” but said Dhoni “had the situation completely under control.”
“Cricketers are like prima donna’s … like the spirited actors of yesteryear. Chennai Super Kings have always been like a family and all senior players have learned to coexist,” said Srinivasan.
“I think if you’re hesitating or not happy, you should go back. I’m not forcing anyone to do anything … sometimes success comes into your head,” said Srinivasan.
“I spoke to MS (Dhoni) and he has assured me that even if the numbers go up there is nothing wrong. He spoke to the players through a zoom call asking them to stay safe. You really don’t know. who is a passive carrier, ”said Srinivasan.
“The season has not started yet and Raina will certainly realize what he is missing and certainly all the money (a salary of 11 crores per season) that he is going to lose,” said the CSK boss.
CSK is struggling even before the tournament has started.
CSK’s preparations for the upcoming Indian Premier League were dull after it emerged that two players and several employees of the franchise tested positive for COVID-19.
