Mahipal Lomror was the standout player when Rajasthan defeated Bihar by 16 runs in the fourth quarter-final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Wednesday here at the Motera Stadium. While Bihar has been eliminated, Rajasthan has advanced to the semi-finals. With this win, Rajasthan now collides with Tamil Nadu in the first semifinal on Friday. In the chase of 165, Bihar lost their opener. Shasheem Rathour (0) was sent off by Aniket Choudhary in the second over and the team was sent off on the backfoot from the start.

Babul Kumar (24) was also exhausted halfway through and the team needed 98 runs from 60 balls with eight wickets in hand.

Mangal Mahrour kept the ship stable for Bihari and he went on to record his half century and he was still in the fold as his side needed 55 runs for the last four overs. In the end, the task turned out to be too much for Mahrour and other hitters, as Rajasthan recorded a victory with 16 points.

Previously, Mahipal Lomror’s knock of 78 runs from just 37 balls helped Rajasthan to place a total of 164/5 in the allotted twenty overs against Bihar.

Rajasthan chose to hit first and got off to a steady start as openers Bharat Sharma and Ankit Lamba scored 59 runs in the first nine overs. However, Bihar bounced back strongly when the squad sent Bharat (38) and Ashok Menaria (0) away in quick succession, reducing Rajasthan to 60/2 in the 10th.

Ankit then found support in Mahipal Lomror and both batters scored runs in quick succession, putting pressure on Bihar bowlers. However, before the kill, Ankit’s (38) wicket passed in the 16th, reducing Rajasthan to 109/3.

In the last few overs, Lomror unleashed all kinds of offensive shots, and his 78-point strike led Rajasthan to a total of more than 160 points.
