There is hope that the COVID-19 vaccine could be ready by the end of the year: WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus

WHO Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus did not address the vaccine

Geneva, Switzerland:

A vaccine against COVID-19 could be ready by the end of the year, said the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday, without going into detail.

WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at the end of a two-day meeting of his executive board on the pandemic, “We will need vaccines and the hope that we will have a vaccine by the end of this year is hope.”

Nine experimental vaccines are in the pipeline of the WHO-led global COVAX vaccine facility, which is expected to distribute 2 billion doses by the end of 2021.
