The United States carried out the first execution of a woman in nearly seven decades on Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
“Lisa Montgomery, 52, was executed in Terre Haute Prison under the death penalty unanimously recommended by a federal jury and passed in 2007 by the US District Court for the Western Missouri,” a statement said.
