Sundar, inspired by Team India head coach Ravi Shastri, expressed his wish to one day open batting for the country in Test cricket.
“I think it will be a blessing for me if I ever get the chance to open the at bat for India in Tests. I think I will take up the challenge just like our coach Ravi Sir did during his playing days,” Washington said said.
In the Brisbane Test, India threatened to leave behind in the first innings after being cut to 186 for six, in response to Australia’s 369.
