There have been some exceptional catches in the 2020 Indian Premier League season, but the Women’s Big Bash League doesn’t seem to be far behind when it comes to witnessing magical moments in the field. An example of this was the match between Brisbane Heat Women and Adelaide Strikers Women on Saturday. Adelaide Strikers spinner Amanda Wellington threw a loopy full pitch to Amelia Kerr, who was trying to reach the mid-wicket line. She did not get a close connection with Maddy Penna, who was stationed short mid-wicket and dived completely to get the catch. However, the ball bounced off her hands and flew upward. Luckily for the attackers, Tahlia McGrath was around to hold the ball, fully dive and just hold the ball.

The flyout proved to be crucial for the case, as Adeliade Strikers defeated Brisbane Heat by 18 runs. Wellington was the bowlers’ choice for the Strikers, taking two and giving away 19 runs from her 3 overs.
Captain Megan Schutt and Darcie Brown were also brilliant with the ball. Schutt took a wicket and gave away only 26 runs from her four overs, while Brown was even stingier, going for just 17 runs from her four overs with a wicket to her name.
For Adelaide, Katie Mack’s 37-ball 50 and Laura Wolvaardt’s 46 helped the team get 153 to eight.
Georgia Redmayne got the Brisbane Heat off to a flying start and, together with Maddy Green, put on 78 runs for the first wicket. However, after Redmayne was fired for 65, the Heat suffered a collapse.
Barring the openers, Redmayne and Green, only Grace Harris managed to get double digits. The rest fell like nine pins as the Strikers recorded a comfortable victory over their opponents.
